On 4 December, 2013 15:53:27, in Reviewed, by Dirk Strauss

DevExpress – December is a month of giving and if you are looking to fill the gift stocking of that special developer someone, have a look at the new release of DevExpress. I have been lucky enough to explore the product for the past while. As usual, DevExpress come out tops with some awesome new features.

The suite is too large to review in its entirety in only one article, but I really want to highlight some of my absolute favourite features (By the way, I’m using Visual Studio Ultimate 2013). All right then buckle up, and let’s go.

iOS7 Development – You might be interested in mobile development, and for those looking for a nice challenge; have a look at iOS. If you would like to get up to speed with iOS Dev, check out the link below by Joey deVilla.

Then Archit Patel shows us how to do exception handling with a Try/Catch in a SQL Stored Procedure. This opens all sorts of doors for the SQL dev’s out there.

Anonymous threatens North Korea Featured

Anonymous has now threatened to hack North Korea and turn over secret information to Wikileaks. From Anonymous hacking Westboro Baptist Church during a live confrontation (with a somewhat childish Shirley Phelps-Roper) to Anonymous hitting the DOJ, FBI, Universal Music, MPAA And RIAA After MegaUpload Takedown, their aspirations have grown somewhat. Do you think that Anonymous can do it? Remember, Anonymous also apparently threatened to hack Facebook.

On a lighter, more awesome note, go over to Eric Ligman’s post. You can download almost 150 free Microsoft eBooks. The article lists the top 50 downloaded so far, but I’m sure that looking through the other 100 would unearth a few gems for some of us.

Lastly Adrian Bridgwater gives us a rundown of some of the Visual Studio 2013 details that have emerged since the release of the Preview! I must say that I am looking forward to the final release.

It is Monday! Hope your Monday is a great one! Here is The Daily Six Pack.

iOS7 Hidden Features Featured

Are you thinking of buying an iPhone or have one and love the new iOS7 features? Have a look at the featured link for today. There are a few interesting ‘hidden’ features shown in the video clip. I think that iOS7 is going to be a super game changer. Apple has not done innovating yet.

Dave Kerr then has a great article on extending Visual Studio. Something that could be very beneficial for a developer to experiment with. Lastly, Pinal Dave continues his post on NuoDB.

Finally, today is Friday. Have a great day! Here is The Daily Six Pack!

Today’s Comic

Today’s xkcd comic is quite true. Heck, I spend more time updating Adobe than actually using it.
